Education & Skill Development Committee

The Education & Skill Development Committee of MACCIA addresses the skilldevelopment needs of members and the wider business community. It prepares a comprehensive catalogue of skill types, ranges and levels to help individuals choose the right learning pathways; initiates and implements educational policies; and designs programmes and activities that enable members to attain the knowledge and expertise needed to serve the public with competence and professionalism. The Committee also advises on areas of growth related to grants for MACCIA’s BSPP, higher-education partnerships, state-agency collaborations and initiatives under the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India. By signing MoUs with colleges, institutes and universities at regional and district levels, it strengthens industry–academia linkages, collects feedback on proposed policies and initiatives, develops sector-specific skill-development plans and conducts skill-based assessment and certification training programmes to enhance employability and entrepreneurship.

Beyond identifying skill gaps and implementing training programmes, the Committee actively plans and facilitates the execution of “Training of Trainers” programmes in collaboration with NSDC and the State Government. It promotes academies of excellence and places special focus on the skilling needs of ST/SC communities, differently-abled individuals and minority groups. Through tie-ups with the State Government for various skill-enhancement schemes for colleges and students, it ensures they gain appropriate business insights and employable skills, and works to guarantee that persons trained under recognised norms are assured of decent-wage employment.

In addition, the Committee collaborates with premier institutions such as IIMs and business schools to offer subsidised Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, signs MoUs with venture-capital, angel and strategic investors to fund competent budding entrepreneurs, and builds partnerships with incubation centres across India and abroad to create a strong ecosystem for innovation and enterprise.
